Questions people actually ask
Chartering has a reputation for vagueness about price and responsibility. These are the answers in plain language, including the ones that are less flattering to us.
01Does Quintessential own these yachts?
No. Quintessential Yacht Concierge is an independent charter referral and yacht-matching service. Every vessel shown belongs to, or is managed by, a third-party charter operator. We do not own, operate, captain, crew or maintain any of them.
02Is my inquiry a booking?
No. Submitting a request asks us to check your date with the charter operator. Your reservation only exists once the operator confirms availability and completes their own agreement and payment process with you.
03How is availability confirmed?
We send your request — yacht, date, time, guest count, occasion — to the operator who controls that vessel. They check the calendar, the captain and the crew, then come back to us. We pass their answer to you unchanged.
04How long does that take?
Usually within 24 hours. Peak weekends and holidays can run longer, and we'll tell you if yours is one.
05Who takes my payment?
The charter operator, directly. Quintessential does not collect charter payments, deposits or balances through this website and will never ask you for card details over email. Your agreement and your payment are with the operator who runs the vessel.
06Can the price change?
Yes. Every rate on this site is a starting rate for a four-hour charter. Your final price depends on date, duration, guest count, taxes, gratuity, fuel, crew, marina and service charges, and any add-ons. We confirm the real number with you before anything is paid.
07What extra costs should I expect?
Commonly: fuel, captain and crew gratuity, taxes, and anything you add — catering, décor, a bar, a chef. The operator itemises all of it in your quote. We'd rather you saw the range now than discovered it at the dock.
08How many guests can come?
Standard charters accommodate up to 13 guests. The final passenger limit is set by the charter operator for each vessel and confirmed before booking. Passenger limits are a safety and licensing matter, not a preference — the operator's number is final.
09Who operates the yacht?
The charter operator supplies the captain and crew and controls every decision on the water, including routing and whether the charter runs at all.
10What happens in bad weather?
The operator makes that call, under their own weather policy, and handles any rescheduling or refund. We'll help you reach them, but we don't overrule a captain on weather and neither should anyone else.
11How do cancellations and refunds work?
Under the charter operator's policy, which they provide with your agreement before you pay. Read it — the terms vary by vessel.
12What if I don't know which yacht I want?
That's the second pathway. Tell us the date, the headcount, the occasion and the budget, and how flexible you are. We identify the strongest option in the collection and bring you a recommendation instead of a list. Get matched.
13What does Quintessential get out of this?
Our margin is built into the rate you see — there is no separate booking fee, no service charge added at checkout, and no commission bolted on at the end. The price on the card is the price we quote you, before the taxes, fuel, gratuity and add-ons listed above. We'd rather show one honest number than a low one that grows.
